Brand identity project — interactive case study

Halcyon. One coherent visual system.

DAX designed the logo, color, type, card, poster and icon system as one finished identity. The controls let you inspect how the delivered system stays consistent.

Halcyon.

A botanical skincare label needed to look like a heritage house, not a startup. We built the whole identity — mark, palette, type, and packaging — from one idea: calm, grown slowly.

The mark, every way it lives.

One monogram — a folded leaf — that holds up on a dark bottle, a cream carton, gold foil, or a favicon.

Palette — try a mood.

Click a swatch to copy the hex. Click a mood to re-tone the whole system live — this is how we present colour direction to a client.

Tip: every colour ratio is documented for print (CMYK) and screen (sRGB).

Type that breathes.

A high-contrast serif for the name, a mono for the fine print. Two voices, one register.

How it was built.

Identity work at DAX is a fixed, four-stage process — no open-ended revision spirals.

01

Positioning

One sentence the whole brand answers to. Here: "calm, grown slowly."

02

Mark & system

The monogram, its lockups, and the rules for every context and size.

03

Colour & type

A tested palette + type pairing, documented for print and screen.

04

Applied

Carried onto real touchpoints — packaging, web, social — and handed over.

The commissioned range.

The lab shows the floor, not the ceiling. Two ends of the register from the same studio kit.

What the market gets wrong.

Read enough buyer reviews in this category and the same five wounds repeat. Each one is a design decision on this page.

You pay, then discover at delivery that the editable source files sit behind a higher tier — or a surprise fee.
Vector source — AI, EPS, SVG, PDF — ships in every tier, including the $45 one. The files are the product, not the upsell.
"Ten concepts" arrive and they're one mark set in ten fonts — near-identical variations passed off as directions.
The lab above is the argument: serif, geometric and badge are three different construction logics, not one sketch re-skinned.
A stock or template mark gets resold to you as custom work — and later shows up on someone else's van.
Parametric construction from your own name, grid visible on demand — toggle the construction grid and inspect the logic yourself.
The logo looks fine in the preview, then falls apart at print or favicon size — no vector, no mono, no dark version.
Everything here is vector, and the icon strip renders your mark at 64, 40 and 24 pixels before you spend a dollar.
Ownership stays vague, so the trademark filing stalls until you pay again for "full rights."
Copyright and full commercial rights transfer in writing on final delivery — trademark it, print it, resell under it. Done.

Field index — what this proves.

Every design service DAX runs, tied to the part of this page that demonstrates it.

Design · 01

Logo design

The lab's three lockups are generated as clean vector SVG — the same files a commission ships with.

Design · 02

Web & UI design

The lab panel itself is the proof — a working interface with states, focus rings and touch targets, straight in HTML/CSS.

Design · 03

App design

The app-icon mockup re-derives from your name live — radius, contrast and a 64/40/24 px legibility strip.

Design · 04

Illustration & vector art

Halcyon's folded-leaf monogram below is drawn stroke by stroke, not traced from stock.

Design · 05

Packaging & labels

Scroll to the shelf: one system carried onto dark glass, cream carton and sage tube without breaking.

Design · 06

Brand identity

This whole page is the service — name in, system out: mark, palette, type and applications that agree with each other.

Design · 07

Social media design

The poster mockup doubles as the feed template — same palette and type logic at any crop.

Design · 08

Print design

The business-card mockup is set at 85 × 55 with real margins and print-safe contrast, re-toned as you type.

Design · 09

Book & album covers

The poster construction — oversized initial, restrained type block — is the same hierarchy a cover needs.

Design · 10

T-shirts & merch

Lockup 03, the badge, is built for merch: one-colour, circular, still legible at chest-print size.

Design · 11

Photo editing & retouching

The commissioned-range shots are graded to one palette — that colour discipline is the retouch bar.

Design · 12

3D & architectural rendering

The shelf bottles fake depth with gradient light; the 3D pipeline replaces them with true renders of your SKU.

Design · 13

Presentation design

The offer tiers read like a deck slide — hierarchy, not decoration, doing the persuading.

Design · 14

Infographics

The derived palette annotates its own data live — hue, hex, role — which is the whole infographic craft in miniature.
